In order to promote health awareness among university students, fifth-level students at the Faculty of Pharmacy held a scientific event entitled “Complementary and Alternative Medicine”, organized by the Department of Medical Sciences and in coordination with the Student Affairs Unit at the University of Science and Technology - Hadramout Branch, as part of activities aimed at spreading health and medical culture among students. The event aimed to introduce students to types of treatments used outside of conventional medicine, highlight the benefits and uses of these treatments, raise awareness of their scientific limitations, and emphasize the importance of consulting specialists before resorting to them. The event was attended by Dr. Murad Bahadi, Vice President of the University of Science and Technology - Hadramout Branch, and Dr. Mohammed Al-Sabri, Head of the Department of Medical Sciences, along with a number of academics and faculty members, who praised the level of organization and the scientific content presented, expressing their pride in such purposeful student initiatives. The event featured 13 diverse booths, each focusing on a different type of complementary and alternative medicine, including herbal remedies, earth therapy, honey therapy, and other common treatment methods. Information was presented in a simplified, scientific style, supported by informative posters, brochures, illustrative samples, and educational images that helped convey the information clearly and engagingly. The event also sought to correct common misconceptions about alternative medicine, and to clarify the difference between alternative and complementary medicine, thereby contributing to raising the level of health awareness among students and enabling them to make decisions based on scientific principles. The event witnessed a wide turnout from male and female students from various colleges, and the attendees interacted by asking questions and participating in discussions, which reflected a great interest in the topic and a keenness to benefit. The event concluded amid widespread praise from the attendees, who commended the efforts made in the preparation and presentation, stressing the importance of continuing such activities in promoting a healthy culture within the university community.
