A scientific visit by petroleum and gas engineering students to the Al-Wahda cement factory in Abyan

The Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering and Computers at the University of Science and Technology - Main Center Aden, conducted a scientific field visit for third-level students to Al-Wahda Cement Factory - Batiss in Abyan Governorate, with the aim of informing the students about the industrial processes and production stages in one of the largest local factories specializing in cement manufacturing. The students were received by: Engineer Yousef Bin Yousef: Director of the Quality Management Department at the factory, and Professor Labib Al-Yazidi: Administrator in the Administrative Affairs Department, who welcomed the students and the accompanying supervisor, and gave them an introduction to the factory, its production capacity, and its role in meeting the local market’s need for cement. The students also toured the factory, learning about the cement manufacturing process from raw material grinding through the kilns and thermal tower, to packaging and storage. Engineer Yousef bin Yousef explained the quality standards implemented at each stage of production, as well as the inspection and monitoring mechanisms used to ensure compliance with specifications. Following that, the students moved to the central control room, which is the heart of the factory's operational processes, where Engineer Hassan Salah gave a detailed technical explanation of the automated operating systems used to monitor production processes, digital control systems, and the role of the control room in tracking the real-time performance of all factory units. During the visit, the students showed great interaction and asked many questions about the technical aspects related to industry, energy and automation. The students also expressed their deep appreciation for the warm welcome and the valuable information provided during the visit. After the visit, the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering expressed its thanks and appreciation to the management of Al Wahda Cement Factory for opening their doors for this visit, and for their fruitful cooperation which contributed to enhancing the students’ knowledge of the practical and applied aspects in the industrial field. This visit was organized within the framework of the training and application plan of the Department of Petroleum and Gas Engineering at the University of Science and Technology - Aden, and out of the department’s keenness to link the theoretical aspect with the practical reality. #University_of_Science_and_Technology
