University of Science and Technology – Aden opens the Second International Conference on E-Learning and Distance Education

In the presence of ministers and high-level officials, the University of Science and Technology – Aden inaugurates the second international conference on e-learning and distance education. The University of Science and Technology - Main Center in Aden, represented by the Deanship of E-Learning and Distance Learning, inaugurated the Second International Conference on E-Learning and Distance Learning on Monday, October 20, 2025. The conference will be held from October 20 to 22, 2025, with the participation of a select group of academics and experts from inside and outside Yemen. The opening ceremony was attended by: His Excellency Prof. Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wosabi, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, His Excellency Eng. Salem Al-Harizi, Minister of Public Works and Roads, Prof. Dr. Khaled Omar Basalim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education for Educational Affairs, Dr. Jameel Abdul Wahid, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education for Planning and Policies, Dr. Mazen Al-Jafri, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education for Scholarships, Dr. Abdul Ghani Al-Shawdhabi, Undersecretary of the Curricula and Guidance Sector at the Ministry of Education, Mr. Mohammed Saeed Al-Muflahi, Undersecretary of Aden Governorate, Prof. Dr. Al-Azzi Al-Burai, Member of the Academic Accreditation Council, Prof. Dr. Huda Basalim, Member of the Academic Accreditation Council. At the opening, Prof. Dr. Abdul Ghani Hamid Ahmed, Acting President of the University of Science and Technology, delivered a speech in which he welcomed all attendees and participants in the conference, while Asst. Prof. Dr. Nabil Mansour, Dean of E-Learning and Distance Education, delivered a speech in which he explained that the goal of the conference is to promote the exchange of knowledge and experiences about the latest trends and developments in e-learning, which contributes to raising the quality of education and provides opportunities for sustainable learning. In his speech, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Khaled Ahmed Al-Wosabi, highlighted the University of Science and Technology – Aden's experience in e-learning and distance learning, expressing his desire to establish a genuine partnership between the ministry and the university to implement the recommendations of the e-learning conference outcomes. The Minister emphasized the importance of implementing the recommendations of the e-learning conference and the need not to leave them unimplemented, stating that they must be taken into consideration and implemented effectively. The Minister also called on universities to emulate the University of Science and Technology's model, stressing the importance of cooperation between the Ministry and universities to promote e-learning and improve the quality of education in Yemen. The conference will feature a number of keynote speakers from various countries, including academics and specialists in management, technology, and e-learning. They are: - Prof. Dr. Dawood Abdul Malik Al-Hadabi, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the University of Science and Technology - Yemen, from the International Islamic University - Malaysia. - Prof. Dr. Abdul Wahab Abdullah Al-Maamari, from Al-Isra University - Jordan, former Vice President of the University of Science and Technology - Yemen. - Prof. Tansri Anwar Ali, Former President of the Open University Malaysia. – Prof. Dr. Dato’ Ansari Ahmad, Founding President of Asia Electronic University – Malaysia. - Eng. Mohammed Jarallah Al-Hababi, former Director of Training at the Deanship of E-Learning at King Khalid University, trainer in e-learning and online teaching. - Asst. Prof. Dr. Khaled Shafel, Cultural Attaché at our Embassy in Russia. - Dr. Adnan Zain Al-Saqqaf, from the Faculty of Engineering at Aden University. The conference is scheduled to continue tomorrow, Tuesday, October 21, 2025, and conclude the day after tomorrow, Wednesday, October 22, 2025.
