Field visit by medical laboratory students on the occasion of World Diabetes Day

The Department of Health Sciences – Medical Laboratories Program, in coordination with Biolab Medical Services Foundation, organized a field event on the occasion of World Diabetes Day, where a group of students from the department went to the Diabetes Center and the German Hospital to conduct medical examinations for visitors to the center and hospital, including measuring blood sugar levels and blood pressure. The event aimed to promote health awareness about diabetes and the importance of early diagnosis, as part of the community services provided by the department to serve the local community. During the event, the students conducted a large number of medical examinations and provided educational advice to diabetic patients on how to manage the disease, which included: the importance of following a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and adhering to treatments prescribed by the doctor. They also emphasized the importance of regular checks of blood sugar and blood pressure levels to avoid complications. Community members who participated expressed their appreciation for this initiative, which allowed them to benefit from health checks and advice directly and free of charge, stressing the importance of continuing such activities to promote public health.
