A field visit by medical students to the Makkah Water Purification and Desalination Complex

Third-level students from the Department of Human Medicine at the University of Science and Technology - Aden Main Center carried out a field visit to the Mecca Water Purification and Desalination Complex for the production of Andalus Water, with the participation of 196 students who were divided into two groups, as the students were divided into smaller groups during the visit to ensure the maximum educational benefit. The Department of Human Medicine organized this field visit as part of the curriculum for Primary Health Care 3, which focuses on infectious diseases transmitted through the digestive system. The visit aimed to introduce students to the mechanisms of water purification and desalination, and the health standards that must be met in the water provided to the community in order to prevent diseases related to water pollution. During the visit, the students learned about the types of salts and chemical elements that should be present in appropriate proportions in drinking water to ensure its safety and suitability for human consumption. The visit included a tour of the water purification and filtration department, where the treatment stages and standards used were explained. This was followed by a visit to the water quality testing laboratory, where the students learned about testing methods and laboratory analyses. The visit concluded with a tour of the production line inside the factory to learn about the final stages of water preparation before distribution. #University_of_Science_and_Technology
